Current Events, Post Five

This post will outline any and all public events. This will include things such as alliances, battles, treaties, major projects taken on by single or multiple empires, shifts in power, major discoveries, and anything else that may be of interest.

Pre-Records in fairly chronological order-
Wyvern is founded by Brother_Greed
Wyvern Capital is established, dirt plateau constructed, walls erected and expanded

Relations between Wyvern and The Kingdom of Abbas decline, Wyvern takes hostile action and places Abbas under its rule as a mercantile state, establishing taxes.

5/9/11 - The Free State of Severn is founded by TheScatmanJohn

5/10/11 - Leaders from Wyvern, The Kingdom of Abbas, and The Free State of Servern meet and agree to construct a fenced cross-empire highway connecting the capital cities, which includes safehouses, a place for travelers to be safe from the night and the elements, stocked with basic supplies for passerby that may need it, a workbench, and a set of furnaces. It should be public knowledge that these safehouses are not to be modified in any way, and supplies are only to be taken by those who need it.

5/10/11 - Wyvern successfully connects the Wyvern Capital with the Kingdom of Abbas capital, with two safehouses in between. Work will begin within the next few days on linking The Free State of Severn with the highway.

5/12/11 - The Kingdom of Abbas begins work on a sky fortress.

5/13/11 - Wyvern releases The Kingdom of Abbas from its position as a mercantile state and awards Abbas its sovereignty once more as an independent empire.'

5/13/11 - Wyvern expands inter-empire highway between Wyvern and The Kingdom of Abbas to five blocks.

5/14/11 - The Kingdom of Abbas begins work on a highway between Abbas and The Free State of Severn.

Rules, Post Two

Though we try to keep them as few and simple as possible, rules are a must to make sure that everything is kept fair for newcomers and veterans alike.


Rude or Harsh Comments should be avoided, though only punishable in excess. People should note that profanity is not illegal, but should be avoided in consideration for others.

Do not spam chat.

Bugs found in addons should be reported immediately. Those caught purposely exploiting bugs in addons or the permissions system will be permanently banned.

New empires may not be attacked until they declare themselves sufficiently prepared, their empire grows to a size of three people, or a week elapses after the empire's creation. Whichever comes first. Special exceptions can and will be made to those under certain circumstances.

No base, city, or other fortification may be attacked without there being defenders present. If there are members of the defending empire online, they may be warned and given ten minutes to respond and defend. If ten minutes elapse and no defenders are en route, the attack may take place.

-An exception to this rule is if an empire builds a fortification within four biomes of another empire's base without permission from the empires in the area. In this case, it is up to the offended empire whether or not to allow the structure to stand, be destroyed, to give a warning or not. As the building is within his territory, it belongs to the empire as does everything within it.

All players are allowed personal storage and privacy. All empires are responsible for the safety and privacy of their citizens and their citizens' private goods. No Empire authority may enter the house of, or search through the personal belongings of any of its citizens without justified reason.

All players are under the rule of their empire leaders, they are to do as they are told by their empire leaders. They may not rebel or lash out against their own empires. If a player is unhappy with his current empire, he may switch at any time that an admin is on.

Empire leaders may grant and divide authority among members of their empire. This allows for positions such as governors, mayors, soldiers, military ranks, and things of that sort. These are considered an extension of the empire leader's authority and are to be respected as the empire leader himself.

During an attack, chests may be looted, buildings may be destroyed, and the entire fortification can be leveled should the attackers see fit.

No player may be killed without justifiable reason or ample warning. Reasons include:

Attempts to steal from other players.

Breaking and Entering
-This includes off limits fortifications (multiple signs clearly stating this must be placed)
Private Homes
Enemy Biomes

Smack-talking
-Watch your tongue, you can be killed for being offensive.

Blatant Physical Griefing
-Destroying other people's structures without reason, attacking others without reason, obvious trolling, etc.

All homes must be set using the /sethome command.

Your home must be set in a fortification that belongs to your empire, a friendly empire (on a temporary basis) or an allied empire (on a temporary basis as well, especially to assist in the defense of an allied fortification)

Abuse of the /sethome command (especially during attacks) will result in loss of the use of it at all and being required to use the empire spawn.

Empire leaders must set their empire's spawn using the /setgroupspawn command inside the capital city of their empire.

Cities and fortifications must be clearly labeled as to what empire it belongs to.

You may not set your home outside of a building,

Member of an enemy empire during a battle.

Member of a Kill on Sight empire
-Kill on sight must be declared at least five minutes before the kill is made.


Your word is your bond. If you say it, you are to follow through with it. This includes in alliances, trade agreements, or any other sort of deal that depends on trust. If you don't mean it, don't attempt to follow through with it.
-However, this can only be followed through with if the deal is made in open public chat. Dealings within private messages remain there and it does not fall upon the server administration to ensure that they are honored. If you wish to ensure that the deal is delivered as it is said, have an admin or multiple witnesses present.

Do not attempt to exploit any loopholes in these rules. Common sense is somewhat expected from people who take part in this server. You will be punished if you attempt to justify rule-breaking with a loophole you may have found. Also realize that these rules will be amended as needed to fit the changing face of the server.

Introduction, Post One

Welcome to our blog, I'm Brother Greed, Head Admin of the Minecraft Empires Server as well as the primary author of this blog. These posts will be split up in a few basic parts. They are as follows:

This blog will be updated frequently and if you wish to become a part of the community we are starting here, you should check in often.

The basic idea of the roleplay we're trying to start is this:

Now, before I get into this, I'll warn you. We didn't look to see if it had been done before, and it probably has, and if it has, that's fantastic for the people doing it, especially if they have been successful in their efforts. But don't come here complaining that you believe we copied from someone else. We didn't intend to if we did.

Anyway, the idea is that we get a group of people together to create this world ran by empires and the rulers that govern them. Giving nearly anyone to seize the chance to become a leader, a merchant, a thief, a soldier, or whatever else they want. Using gold ingots as the primary trading medium, this is how a nation's wealth is determined, and how nations will trade with each other, though bartering amongst individuals is allowed.

The basic process is that if an individual hears of the server and wishes to join, he is free to come into the server and look around (the default position cannot destroy or set blocks) should he wish to become a member of the server, he would need to request to speak to either me or xTdub, the server owner, we are the admins. After being spoken to about the rules and his intentions in the server, he is elevated to citizenry in the server and is free to carry out what he intended on doing. We find that this would probably be sufficient in deterring griefers and trolls, along with our blacklist, which will be mentioned in the rules post.

As we establish the community, those wishing to join the server are given rather limited choices. They may join one of the existing empires, or, if there is a slot available, start a new one. At the time this post was written, (5/9/2011), there are three slots remaining for empire leadership.

Those who join an existing empire are allowed to tour the empire unhindered and speak to the leaders of those empires. Once they select their empire, they are held accountable and subject to the leader's rule (and those who he appoints in command) in every sense of the word, as the current main goal is to build up empires, rebellion is highly discouraged. Should anyone find themselves unhappy with their current empire, they are free to denounce their citizenship within the empire at any time and select a new one, or create one if there is a slot available. Though betrayal is currently a bannable offense. If one anyone decides to switch empires they are to take only that which is theirs, or that which the leader allows them to take from the empire's coffers.

Those who decide to create an empire will be allowed to essentially do whatever they please, within their own empires, of course. They may establish alliances, trade with other empires, wage war, enslave other empires, build an army, or erect massive fortresses. The actions of their empire fall upon them. They could be a benevolent leader, or a malevolent tyrant. It is entirely up to them, though it is also entirely up to the people within their empire to stay or go, so it is in the leader's best interest to treat his citizens well. Empire leaders should be aware that constructing a base essentially claims the biome and the surrounding biomes (four in any direction) for their empire. And they may not build a base within four biomes of another empire's base without express permission from the empire(s). Doing so without permission may spark war and the offended empires may dismantle such structures with impunity. The same goes with multi-biome structures such as highways, railroads, aqueducts, and anything else that falls in a similar category.

Keep in mind that these addons are not permanent, and may be here today and gone tomorrow. xTdub and I are searching for the right combination of addons to give the experience that we aim to deliver. Suggestions are always welcome and will almost always be implemented, if only on a trial basis.

The server is running a blacklist to block certain items that can be used for griefing. They are as follows:

Diamond Picks
TNT
Gunpowder

We feel that this list is fairly reasonable. Though our aim is not to obstruct the possibility of fun, and are more than willing to provide these items to people (under supervision) with good intentions. Though the last thing we want to see is an obsidian castle, or someone blasting another's city to bits with TNT, but the more innocent uses for such blacklisted items are acknowledged and will be allowed, again, under supervision.

It should be noted that the server is running a Nether addon. And those empires who intend to explore or colonize the nether can have a single portal constructed anywhere they wish at a cost of 30 diamonds and 30 gold ingots paid to the Empire of Wyvern, led by Brother_Greed and the second in command, xTdub (Though we may be an admins, xTdub and I strive to keep our empire legitimate. We mine all of our resources, smelt our own ore, and dig for diamonds like any other the only things we provide ours empire with through admin commands are Obsidian and Flint and steel to be able to deliver Nether Portals). This is put in place to allow the nether to be something that is more sought after, especially for its safety from attacking empires due to its exclusivity. The portal will also be permanent, given the blacklisting of Diamond picks, so the security of your empire's investment would be secured.
